Suwaiba Said Ahmad Biography: Suwaiba Said Ahmad, former Director at the Centre for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano, where she served from 2021 to 2024, is the new Minister of State Education of Nigeria. She was appointed by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the current president of Nigeria.

 

She was appointed along side other ministers.

 

The President had previously announced the dismissal of five ministers, the appointment of seven ministers and the transfer of 10 ministers to other ministries.

 

Bianca Ojukwu has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Jumoke Oduwole has been appointed Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.

 

Others include Muhammadu Maigari Dinyady, Federal Minister of Labour and Employment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Federal Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Atta, Federal Minister of Housing and Urban Development; and Suwaibah Said Ahmad, Minister of Education.

 

Suwaiba Said Ahmad Education and Career

 

Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad is a trained educationist, gender activist and consultant. She has worked in the field of education for 17 years. She is a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, where she currently serves as the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies. She has held various positions at the university including Stage Coordinator, Examination Officer, PG Coordinator, Vice Dean and Head of Science Education.

 

Suwaiba Said Ahmad’s consulting portfolio focuses on governance work and development in the areas of political economy and institutional analysis, policy planning, development and strategy, capacity building and training.

 

Suwaiba has participated as a consultant in funded research projects including those from the British Council (winning a research grant as team leader in 2015), Educational Data, Research and Evaluation in Nigeria (EDOREN), Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) and A-Fark Education Foundation. Most recently, he worked as a consultant for Policy Practice on Learning Partnerships for All in Nigerian Education.
